No you cannot add duplicate names because the goal should be to track all assets as different objects.
Let’s say that you buy two laptops, you will create two assets linked to the Item “Laptop”. Each asset will have a different name, say Laptop-1 and Laptop-2, but you will need to create only one Item for this type of asset, called for example Laptop.
