Can a Non-BOM Item Be Consumed and Tracked Against a Work Order in ERPNext Vanilla?

Hi Everyone,

I would like to know whether ERPNext Vanilla supports consuming items that are not part of the BOM against a Work Order.

Scenario:

  • A Work Order is created from a BOM.

  • During production, additional materials/items may be required that are not defined in the BOM.

  • These Non-BOM items need to be consumed and their stock movement should be tracked against the manufacturing process.

Questions:

  1. Can Non-BOM items be consumed against a Work Order in standard ERPNext?

  2. Is it possible to add such items during Material Consumption or Manufacture Stock Entry?

  3. Will the consumed quantity and valuation be reflected in the finished goods cost?

  4. What is the recommended vanilla ERPNext workflow for tracking Non-BOM material consumption in manufacturing?

Any guidance or best practices would be appreciated.
