Custom Report shows total calculates Rate field total also

It is a minor problem but when we send customer reports,it make us embarassed when ERPNext Report on clicking Show Totals also calculates the totals of the rate column

This bug is not fixed for long . Can anyone give me some idea on the effort involved ?

My client is using some pdf eraser to remove the rate total before sending this report to customers via email
