When setting up a confirmation email template, I couldn’t find in the documentation how to template the different variables like the name, confirmation URL, etc.
Also couldn’t find a definite way to know where the template should fetch from
Frappe already has this through Email Templates + Jinja. For example, {{doc.name}} can access the document fields, and custom email methods can pass additional variables such as a confirmation URL.
On the standard Email Group templates, you can add the confirmation and success templates. But adding doc.name to that template throws an error because at that point doc is not defined unless you sort of template the name custom.
Also finding the default template in the desk UI is a hella of a process as you have to check from the subscribe function.
I settled on not including doc.name and only use the confirmation url. It’s also settled for now. I’m just saying it could be easier
Correction:
On V16+ a field for adding a reference doctype was added to handle adding dynamic variables. Which makes this easy to work with
