I know this may not be possible with the multiple expense selection which I why I recommend a dependency where at the start you can select single or multiple expense. I’m which case if it is single the filed for 1 and 2 above will show and if multiple it won’t show.

One of the challenges accountants face is the need to know the total expenses already expended in a GL and what is left in the budget. This helps them to take an informed decision rather than wonder what caused a budget variation.

However, i observed that the expense type does not save even when you select “Is group”

Is their any error when saving the Expense Type entry?

Also it would be nice to have 2 fields read only

1. that can display the total amount of spent for that expense type for the financial year.
2. Display the balance left the in budget for that expense either for the month or year of the data has been populated in budget.

I will review the app since I haven’t looked into it for a while now and I will check if it’s possible to implement these things…

I just want to update you on the app…

I have made some improvements to the app and some friends are currently testing it…

Regarding your suggestion, I found that the best way to display the balance of all GL entries for each expense item and the remaining budget balance is through creating a report due to the number of calculation needed to obtain such values…

Calculating the balance of all GL entries for each expense item is somewhat direct but when it comes to the budget part it is difficult and I don’t know the proper way to do that…

So if you or anyone else know how budgets work and how it is linked to GL entries, please explain that for me…
