currently I had to deal with time conversion and realized, that it might not be the best idea to store the time in the database in the systems or users timezone. Wouldn’t it be better to choose one standard time, like UTC, and store all the time in that format?
Then, when reading the dates, we just convert them to the systems or the current users timezone. I am sure this is the common way to deal with it.
In PHP applications I used to work with the UNIX time, which gave me the seconds from the 01.01.1970. From there, I could convert to any format without any hassle.
Would you share your opinions? Thank you very much.
