Hi Joseph,

I would recommend this setup:

Suppose your erpnext installation is at /var/www/erpnext
Then create /var/www/erpnext.conf and paste the apache conf setting with modifications as mentioned in install wiki.

The sudo open /etc/httpd/cond.f/httpd.conf and at the end write
Include /var/www/erpnext.conf

Just make sure that erpnext.conf is accesible by apache's user.

Try this and let us know.

Thanks,
Anand.

Joseph,

It involves:

1. Creating a new "Module Def"
2. Editing startup.js and desktop.js (and adding a new icon image)
3. Making a new home page (html) for the module

best,
Rushabh

ps. You are also required to push your new module on your fork at GitHub (sorry GPL)

Hi Joseph,

Go to New (Top bar) > Module Def

Enter details. It will create a folder with that module name in the app folder.

Hi

No as of now i do not have a document outline. I just want to get an overview so to speak, of the steps/processes involved in creating a module and setting up.

It depends on what you want to do - do you have a document outlining what you are trying to achieve?

Hi Joseph,

Go to New (Top bar) > Module Def

Enter details. It will create a folder with that module name in the app folder.

Jospeh,

ERPNext is licensed as the GNU/General Public License:

It implies that all derivative work must have the same license. Right now we are happy to help developers at no cost to build their own modules but to make it a truly sustainable relationship, we expect them to contribute them back to the product or at least make their modules free for others to use.

Oh ok, hopefully i wont have to come to that, but just in-case i thought i should find out. I dont uderstand what you mean by this though "You are also required to push your new module on your fork at GitHub (sorry GPL)"?

Joseph,

It involves:

1. Creating a new "Module Def"
2. Editing startup.js and desktop.js (and adding a new icon image)
3. Making a new home page (html) for the module

best,
Rushabh

ps. You are also required to push your new module on your fork at GitHub (sorry GPL)

One last thing, in the case that i want to add a module to the list of existing ones (accounts, activity, etc) how do i go about that?

Thanks,
Anand.

Hi,

You need to set "PATH TO ERPNEXT INSTALLATION"  as specified in https://github.com/webnotes/erpnext/wiki/How-to-Install-ERPNext

Thanks,
Anand.

Hi Joseph,

I think you need to install python-memcached

if you have pip installed, you can run: sudo pip install python-memcached

Thanks,
Anand.
