ERPNext Career Roadmap Needed: 6 Months Experience but Struggling to Get an Implementation Role

Hi ERPNext Community,

I’m looking for guidance from experienced ERPNext consultants and implementers.

I have around 6 months of ERPNext experience working on ERPNext implementations and support. During this period, I worked with standard ERPNext workflows and gained exposure to business processes.

However, despite applying to multiple companies, I’m finding it difficult to secure an ERPNext Implementation / Techno-Functional Consultant role.

My long-term goal is to become a strong ERPNext consultant who can:

  • Gather client requirements

  • Conduct GAP analysis

  • Configure ERPNext

  • Train users

  • Handle implementation projects

  • Understand business processes deeply

  • Eventually lead ERP implementations independently

Currently, I am confused about the next steps.

My Questions

  1. What skills should I focus on during the next 6-12 months?

  2. How can I become more valuable as an ERPNext Implementation Consultant?

  3. Which modules should I master first?

    • Accounts

    • Stock

    • Manufacturing

    • CRM

    • HR

    • Projects

  4. Should I focus more on:

    • Functional Consulting

    • Technical Development

    • Techno-Functional Consulting

  5. What projects or practical exercises would you recommend?

  6. If you were starting again with 6 months of ERPNext experience, what roadmap would you follow?

About Me

  • 6 months ERPNext experience

  • Interested in ERPNext Implementation / Techno-Functional roles

  • Willing to start with a modest salary if it provides strong learning opportunities

  • Looking for long-term growth in the ERP ecosystem

I would greatly appreciate any advice, roadmap, book recommendations, certifications, or real-world implementation tips.

Hi @Abhay_o11

Hang in there buddy - most adverts start at minimum 2 years experience (probably will go up once AI replaces junior devs - scary :worried: ) unless they are specifically looking for freshers/interns
