Workspace Sidebar Icons Not Displaying Correctly After Upgrade from v15 to v16
Hello Frappe Community,
We recently upgraded our production business system from Frappe/ERPNext v15 to v16 and have encountered an issue with the new Desktop/Workspace Sidebar configuration.
Problem
The main /desk Desktop loads correctly and displays the primary application icons normally.
However, after entering ERPNext, several standard modules/workspaces such as Accounting, Assets, Buying, CRM, Selling, Projects, Quality, Manufacturing and others do not display their normal graphical icons.
Instead, some of them appear as letter-based placeholder icons.
When interacting with the affected Desktop/Workspace Sidebar configuration, we also receive the following message:
“Icon is not correctly configured please check the workspace sidebar to it”
The modules themselves remain accessible and our existing business data appears to be intact.
Questions
Has anyone encountered this specifically after upgrading an existing v15 installation to v16?
What is the recommended method for rebuilding or refreshing the Workspace → Workspace Sidebar → Desktop Icon mapping in v16?
Would using Reset to Defaults on the affected standard Workspaces be appropriate after a v15 → v16 migration, and could this remove existing Workspace customizations?
Is there a recommended way to regenerate the v16 Workspace Sidebar configuration from the standard application definitions without affecting existing ERP data or user permissions?
We have a pre-upgrade recovery snapshot available, but we would prefer to resolve the Workspace configuration correctly rather than manually modifying standard records.
Any guidance from administrators or developers who have handled this during a v15 → v16 migration would be greatly appreciated.
