Feature Request: Create Opportunity from Helpdesk Ticket

Hi Team,

I would like to request a “Create Opportunity” button in Frappe Helpdesk, similar to the functionality available in Odoo Helpdesk.

Use Case

Many support tickets are actually sales inquiries or can lead to future business opportunities. Instead of manually switching to the Opportunity module and creating an Opportunity, agents should be able to create one directly from the Helpdesk Ticket.

Expected Behavior

Add a Create Opportunity button on the Ticket page.

When clicked, the system should ask:

  • Use Existing Customer

  • Use Existing Prospect

  • Create New Prospect

If Use Existing Customer is selected:

  • Allow searching and selecting an existing Customer.

  • Create the Opportunity linked to both the Ticket and the selected Customer.

If Use Existing Prospect is selected:

  • Allow searching and selecting an existing Prospect.

  • Create the Opportunity linked to both the Ticket and the selected Prospect.

If Create New Prospect is selected:

  • Open a pre-filled Prospect creation form using available ticket information (such as name, email, phone, and company, where applicable).

  • After saving the Prospect, automatically create the Opportunity and link it to both the Ticket and the newly created Prospect.

Data Mapping

The Opportunity should automatically inherit relevant information from the Ticket where possible, such as:

  • Subject

  • Description

  • Contact details (when appropriate)

  • Attachments (optional)

  • Link back to the originating Helpdesk Ticket

Benefits

  • Faster conversion of support inquiries into sales opportunities.

  • Eliminates duplicate data entry.

  • Improves collaboration between Helpdesk and ERPNext.

  • Ensures complete traceability from Ticket → Prospect/Customer → Opportunity → Quotation → Sales Order.

This workflow is available in Odoo Helpdesk and is very useful for businesses where support requests often become sales opportunities. Adding a similar feature to Frappe Helpdesk would significantly improve the integration between Helpdesk and CRM.

I don’t think this is a mainstream feature.

It’s likely that a very small percentage of users will desire such a feature.

Please consider the vast user base for ERPNext and Helpdesk.

This is just a guess, but I’m confident that 95% (or more) help desk tickets created by all users are strictly related to existing customer interactions.

It would be more appropriate for you to create a customization to enable this function. You can create a button in the HD Ticket for this function by adding a Server Script and Client Script.
