I’m a new user and planning to use the LMS to help my sister with a startup. I’m a Salesforce Architect and was wondering, did the framework authors receive any inspiration from Salesforce? Many of the low-code features, integrations, and parts of the security model remind me of the Salesforce platform.
I really like the framework so far as well as your products built on it. Congrats on such a terrific achievement

Hi @chasd00, nice to known that you see a lot of similarities between ERPNext/Frappe + Salesforce!
The clear answer is no, Frappe wasn’t inspired by Salesforce, I think Rushabh Mehta, can confirm the history I gonna tell you!
Around 2005, Rushabh started developing an ERP for they family business, at this time, him was heavily inspired by the concept of Semantic Web. I think the core idea was a “self-defined” framework, by semantics of data, not just the presentation, but models, apis, etc! That’s how wnframework was born inside webnotes.
Yeah, Frappé Inc was Webnotes for a long time, and Frappé Framework was wnframework
They developed ERPNext with that web/semantic concept in mind
Thank you for the response, I’m really liking the framework and the products. A family member is working on a small startup as a passion project and I’m setting up Frappe Learning (the LMS) for her. I look forward to learning more about the overall framework, Bench, Frappe Cloud, and Frappe Learning.
