Has anyone added a custom voucher type to the Journal Entry or is strongly discouraged?

The voucher type can be customized by writing property setter. It wont bring any change to the core functions of Journal Entry doctype unless you write custom script based on your needs.
So what are you trying to achieve by adding cutom voucher types in JE?
That’s good to know, thanks. It was something the owner of the company was requesting. When he was looking at the ledger and you would see the voucher type and voucher subtype (which is the journal entry voucher type), he was hoping this could be drilled down more to what the journal entry was for. So that in the ledger you couldn’t easily have an idea of what it was for. He hasn’t brought it up again and I would prefer not to do it for fear of it breaking something.
