Manufacturing in Secondary UOM Instead of Default Stock UOM

Hi All, We are exploring the possibility of configuring ERPNext to support manufacturing operations using a secondary Unit of Measure (UOM) instead of the default Stock UOM.

Currently, ERPNext mandates that all manufacturing processes, such as raw material consumption and finished goods production, must be conducted in the item’s Stock UOM. However, in our practical use cases, we often need to track and manage input and output in a secondary UOM that differs from the Stock UOM. This is especially relevant in industries where production measurement units vary (e.g., KG vs. Meters, Liters vs. Pieces, etc.).

Hi

You can set one default reporting stock UOM but have the luxury to work with and convert it into multiple UOMs on buying, selling and manufacturing cycles provided you have defined conversion factors in respective item masters.
