Is the data import of transactions (e.g. Invoices, P/Os & others) available after the said updates?

Dear Friends,
Hope this mail finds you in good spirit.
We are happy to announce the next big release of ERPNext. Over the past few months we have been working furiously on this version and it is finally ready to roll. The major highlights of this release are:
Mobility: The ERPNext User Interface is now accessible on all devices including mobiles, tablets, laptops and desktops.
New User Interface: We have improved our user interface based on user feedback and it is now a lot clearer, lighter and accurate than the earlier interface. See the screenshots and demo in the link below.
Shopping Cart (Alpha): ERPNext becomes one of the first ERPs to have a fully integrated website + e-commerce interface that it built grounds up to be tightly integrated with your ERP system. Shopping Carts become Quotations and you can manage your fulfilment
from within your ERP. Please note that this is still a preliminary release. We are yet to integrate payment gateways, but you can start setting up your webshop right now.
Easier to Setup: We have spent a lot of time making the Setup easier for new users with even better pre-sets and easier data Imports. The new setup page is also a dashboard that helps you track your implementation progress.
Hundreds of Small Updates and Bug Fixes: Not to mention the many small bugs and annoyances that we have been able to remove.
We discussed the possibility of using ERPnext for everything, but we
really need to spend some time evaluating the system to see if it is
going to work for them (maybe the 30 day trial is the way to start off).
Creating trial account highly recommended :)
But we don't really have any information on the new web shop, which is
important for them.
When looking at their site (above), do you see any
issues with creating something similar in the new ERPnext? Also, what
sort of timing are we looking at for this module to be available for
testing?
If you create new trial account of ERPNext, you will get access to latest version only.
Looking at Displetech's website, I believe same will be configurable on ERPNext as well. They will be able to list items with price and stock details. When visitor make shopping cart, system will create Quotation in the backend. When customer confirms an order, system will create Sales Order in the ERPNext account.
The current webshop functionality of ERPNext is not multilingual. We have this as to-do item on our list. Payment gateway is yet to be integrated. Also, there will be no option of Wishlist in ERPNext.

Thanks for the encouragement! Please let me know if you need any help from our side. We really depend on the community to spread the word around. Our target has always has been to stay lean!
The shopping cart feature is complete but needs to be tested for some more time and is yet to be linked to a payment gateway. If you have a prospect, we should be ready by the time you can setup the system.
Our retail POS feature is also finally under development and should be ready for release within a month.
This is very impressive! I even tried it on my phone and it looks very functional! Congratulations again.
I had a couple of things that I wanted to let you know about:
I am writing some short blurbs for the Infoworld Bossie awards (awards for open source software from Infoworld magazine). This year I am including ERPnext, and I believe this should give a lot of good exposure to a lot of readers who are not aware of the project. I have submitted a draft to the editor. I think it will be published either at the end of August or September. (I might have to update it after getting this news about the new version).
I am going to see a prospect tomorrow. They sell products to be used for displays in retail stores. One of their important requirements is the web store integration with inventory. What is the status of that new feature? (It doesn't seem to be on the demo, and I am anxious to see what that looks like, and know what I can tell the client).

I started looking at the accounting in the demo. I can't seem to find an AP cheque processing function. (This is really required in North America). Is this something which is on the to-do list?
Also, how would I do a summary AR and AP aged listing? (summarized by customer or vendor)

New query AR and AP reports can be easily filtered based on customer and age. You will find filter option above all the columns in said report.
To filter AR / AP report based on party, enter customer / vendor id in Account column's filter.
To filter report based on Age, you can enter ageing days as greater than (>) or less than (<) X days in Age column. For example, to filter all the invoices aged more then 50, value in the filter in Age column would be >50.

What is the status of that new feature? (It doesn't seem to be on the demo, and I am anxious to see what that looks like, and know what I can tell the client).

I brought it up since I believe its going to be a problem for any north american user who does any reasonable volume of cheques. For this particular client, they really need the ability to have their web shop in french and english. So, they are probably going to rule out Erpnext for their needs.

August seems pretty packed. If you want something immediate, I could pass you on to our tech partner who will do this for approx $100 (?)
We already have a template format in the system (against Journal Voucher). The measurements will need to be adjusted to your requirements.

I started looking at the accounting in the demo. I can't seem to find an AP cheque processing function. (This is really required in North America). Is this something which is on the to-do list?
Also, how would I do a summary AR and AP aged listing? (summarized by customer or vendor)
We discussed the possibility of using ERPnext for everything, but we
really need to spend some time evaluating the system to see if it is
going to work for them (maybe the 30 day trial is the way to start off).
Creating trial account highly recommended

We are looking at about 10 users.
They would like their current web site, which is running on Magento Go integrated with the ERP. Here is the current site:

The next erpnext looks very good but I think some of the things are not something which are in the right direction, please note that many things are indeed in the correct direction but the ones pertaining to the detail view are somethings which would require a bit more changes.
With the advent of the new version the data entry has become more difficult, especially with the case of the sub-table in a transaction.
If we want to convert a SO with 20 items to a DN and want to make DN only for say like 4 items then now it has become very difficult, since the description is not shown in the item table view and hence a person needs to go to the Print Preview and then get back to edit mode to delete those lines.
This scenario becomes even more so bad in case the transaction does not have a print preview like in the case of a stock entry, now in this case if we want to check 20 items and their available stock items in the warehouse then we need to click 20 lines to check the same, instead earlier we just used to scroll to that column and thats it.
The New Tags is great but when they show up in the list view they should be in highlighted color as they used to be earlier and were easily picked but now the tags generally merge with the background.
Comments: The latest comment used to come on TOP of the transaction, now again it has been moved to the bottom which does not look a step in the right direction. Also the other things like assigning a task and adding attachments should be in the top instead of the bottom.
We are trying to come to terms with the new update and though it is indeed a great addition but still it lacks some things which could probably be implemented in the near future.

I would like to add another thing that deleting comments is not a good addition since comments should become the permanent thing like in the old version, if we want something to be removed then why not add TAGS, since comments are used by us as a permanent marker on the transactions or masters something permanent without cancelling the transaction.

I had and internal discussion on this. Since you are going to be our second reseller, we want to help you make money!
So the deal is this:
1. 1st subscription (Enterprise Plan) (in a year) - No discount
2. Every subsequent subscription - we will give you 30% discount
3. You have to collect payment and pay us 70% of the amount (plus tax)
4. Customer account will be updated only when we receive confirmation of payment.
5. Website listing after one successful implementation.
6. This is will be year-on-year revenue.
Say if you do 20 accounts - that is 6 lakh (per year), you will have yearly income of 1.8 lakh - that is 9 lakh over 5 years and ongoing after that as long as you keep collecting customer payment. I think its a great plan.
Please create this and send it to me so that i can setup this for client and give him demo as well.

Soon you will have two customers and as soon as i will have my name on website we I will be able to sell it more in Africa reason and other areas as well.
Lets do one implementation well - you will also need to setup your team to understand ERPNext better. And its a big product. There is no hurry
I have some suggestion to make the product better. How can we improve that. If we need to work as a team then i will join hands with you a real team and will make this product a success.
Be warned but, we have more ideas than hands to implement.
I will fill the form and let you know. I will use the Customer email address for the form but i was the setup email and password on my email address.
You can sign-up from your address, then add the customer as a user. You can create as many accounts as you want with one email id.
Please make sure.
Thanks & Regards

Avdhesh,
I had and internal discussion on this.
Also please add my name to website as i am pitching a big client in Africa for the web based ERP and this will change the face of company as we will go forward.
Looking forward to hear from you.
Thanks & Regards

Thanks for the update. If you remember we discussed last time about selling the ERP and we want to be the authorised reseller in North India for that. You said last time that we you will send me a contract etc and we will work out on that.
Looking forward to the same.
Thanks,
Avdhesh
