Adding Custom Field to Stock Projected Qty Report

Hi Experts,

For Item docType, I added a new custom field which I call item_category. And I want my report (Stock Projected Qty Report) to be able to filter (both front end and API) based on this custom field.

Any experts can help me on how to do that?
