Rushabh,

I believe this requires to unset the variable which is hardcoded somewhere in code, which uses the defs.py by default ?

Hi Ryan,

You need to set it in the conf.py file in the main folder if you are using the latest code. If your system is slightly older, you will need to set it in lib/py/webnotes/defs.py

Also check that your SMTP settings are correct. If your smtp server is local and does not need any authentication, you might have to comment out the login calls in lib/py/webnotes/utils/email_lib/send.py. I think the changes were pushed only recently.

thanks,
Rushabh

In use_ssl write either 1 or 0

I think then it should work

Also, put all server, login and password in quotes.

Hello again and thanks again for the help as suggested i have placed all my email variables within the conf.py in single qoutes and set ssl = to 0. Now i do not get the parse errors anymore but still get the error below when i try to add a user.

Also still do not recive any emails I send using the ERPNext system…however i just checked and i cannot send mail from localhost on this system to anywhere either. Therefore it might be something i need to look into on my end for sending email just tying to figure out how to test an external server setup like ERPNext uses.

Anyways here is the error u requested

Hi Ryan,

The error indicates that the smtp server you are using does not support standard authentication. It seems that the sever is using an old version of email server which doesnt support smtp auth protocol.

You will have to use some other smtp, maybe gmail.

Thanks,
Anand.

Hi Ryan,

I think your smtp server may not need authentication. Set

mail_login = None
mail_password = None

and try again
