“By becoming a Gold Member, you show your leadership and a premium
positioning for your brand. As a Gold Member, you have priority on all
the ERPNext Listings”
I would firstly like to understand what is meant by ERPNext Listings.
I would like to understand if this membership fee and priority level would hamper opportunity in any form for those skilled but dont have the 5000$ .
And why is for the first time in this community money is determining priority?
How would it hamper? Those who are willing to invest in the community should get some benefit, no?
The website listing on community.erpnext.com had priority listing for paid members so its not new.
The product / community remains to be open source. Ultimately there needs to be a way for the community to pitch in resources and build something as we can see voluntary contributions are so few.
“How would it hamper? Those who are willing to invest in the community should get some benefit, no?”
People who put in money has all the right to benefits, there is no issue in giving them premium space, and listing in big bold fashion. But “Priority on Listings” is what I have an issue with. What would that exactly mean? Now If it simply means priority on the space on the website and even elsewhere, it is fine.
“Priority on ERPNext Listing” could mean a lot more than visually being listed as a service provider and that is what I want to clear.
“The website listing on community.erpnext.com had priority listing for paid members so its not new.”
Again I dont have a problem for anything visual. Which was the case earlier. You get a verified tag if paid. There was nothing about giving priority in any other fashion to anyone.
“The product / community remains to be open source. Ultimately there needs to be a way for the community to pitch in resources and build something as we can see voluntary contributions are so few.”
I totally agree and I feel more discussions should be raised to explore more possibilities.
