We recently launched Raven v3 and updated the Raven mobile apps.
Internally at Frappe - we use Raven every day to communicate. This has been a long journey - since Raven v2 just was not good enough for a larger team. Today the Frappe team sends more than 30k messages (excluding bots) every month on Raven, and when asked if they would prefer moving back to Telegram, most said no. You can read more about how Frappe uses Raven here.
We’ve also asked existing users for feedback on the product since we released v3 and the response has been overwhelmingly positive. Next week, we will be recording a “Ask me anything” video where we will answer questions about Raven, how v3 is better (or how we got there) and so on. So if you have questions, please drop them below and we will add it to our video
Try out Raven on this link (it’s a 7 day free trial).
Good day. I saw in https://frappe.io/product/raven/at-frappe:
"Raven v3
A faster app, a proper PWA on mobile and a redesign, fixing a long list of performance issues. Frappe’s team ran the beta before anyone else."
So, does this mean that installing the Android app is no longer necessary? Can we simply use Raven as a PWA, with full functionality for notifications, file attachments, access, etc… Everything exactly as it is in the PC version?
Actually the mobile app has now been updated, and it’s got all the features that the desktop app has - just like the PWA. So you can use whichever - PWA, or the native app.
Thank you very much. I understand that Raven is an alternative to Slack for work teams, but…
My primary goal is to eliminate the use of WhatsApp and stop clients from sending me screenshots or informal messages. We’ve invested in various support platforms, but eventually gave up; now, we just use same WHMCS for everything, since clients aren’t particularly keen on navigating through a dedicated support portal.
Raven seems like the perfect alternative. It satisfies the client’s desire to “send a quick chat message from their mobile device,” while helping us integrate our business operations by linking a client-specific thread with alerts from our ERP, CRM, helpdesk, and various automated workflows.
And if the client doesn’t even need to install an app (which they generally dislike doing), a PWA could be an excellent solution… That’s definitely worth looking into.
Does the mobile app work with Frappe V15?
I’m unable to add my site. When I add a site in the mobile app, it brings me to the authentication page of my frappe site. Once I enter my user info, it logs me into the desk (my default workspace). If I do anything, including open Raven from the desk, I can’t go back or close anything as the app reports “Couldn’t add site - Sign-in was cancelled”.
Perhaps it’s because I’m proxied via CloudFlare?

Yeah probably a proxy issue. There were some recent GitHub issues about this as well and both were resolved by fixing the proxy (HTTP routing) issue.
Thank you very much for providing such a great app. I have a few questions regarding its functionality:
- How is data retention managed in this app? Are all files stored indefinitely in the system, or can the retention period of uploaded files be configured?
- Since this app may consume a significant amount of RAM, is it possible to set resource limits to manage server performance?
- Will the ability to send voice messages be added in future updates?
For the AMA:
“There is no apple of ERPs we say, is it the same case for Chat apps? Does Slack come close?”
