Bench update error: Translatable cannot be "null"

Hello everyone.
I’m using ERPNext Developer Bench version 10.x

When I want to update my Bench, I get the following error:

pymysql.err.IntegrityError: (**1048, u"Column 'translatable' cannot be null"**)

however, when looking at the database, I didn’t have a ‘translatable’ column in the table “tabDocField”. I quickly added this column as part of the table with the properties int(1) not null, default value 0 and still get this error on update.

Now run ‘bench migrate’ that should fix things - your database and (frappe) app code no longer match, and migrate rebuilds the app code to sync with your database schema change.

I’m afraid that doesn’t solve it - still returns the error mentionend above.
Perhaps the column “translatable” is used in more than one table?

Alright, so we (me and a colleague of me) nailed down the problem, although the exact issue is unknown.

I installed a fresh Ubuntu 16 Server and a fresh erpnext instance. Before even running the bench, we downgraded frappe and erpnext from 11 to 10. When updating, this is the error we encountered.
Then we’ve taken out the requirement “not null” from the column translatable in docTypeField… just to encounter the same error with another column!
Rinse and repeat, the errors won’t stop. We assume this is because the database that is pulled during the v11 installation conflicts with some settings of v10.

Tl;dr: This happens only when downgrading nowadays. If you don’t want to potentially skim through hundreds of columns, a bench --force reinstall should be the solution and it’s currently what we are attempting.
