I want to save the company file on a usb drive. I want to access Frappe Books on my desktop and laptop. Sometime while in the shop I use my laptop, while monitoring a machine. I also want to have frappe books when I am at home on my laptop. I’m not interested using a cloud account. At times I don’t have internet access.
Thank you,
Jeff
Best approach is setup Google drive / one drive on your machine and let your data sync on your account. that way you will be able access it whenever you want.
USB also should work, i never tried.
Yes, you can run Frappe Books using a USB drive to keep your company file portable between devices like your desktop and laptop. Since you’re not using a cloud account and sometimes lack internet access, storing the data locally makes sense.
Here’s what you can do:
- Install Frappe Books on both your desktop and laptop.
- Save the company file/database on your USB drive.
- When switching devices, plug in the USB and open the company file using Frappe Books on that machine.
Just make sure:
- You always close Frappe Books properly before unplugging the USB to avoid file corruption.
- Only use one device at a time to open and update the file — don’t edit it on both without syncing, or you could lose data.
This setup should work well offline and keep your accounting portable across work and home. https://indiarentalz.com
