$ gunzip 20180408_162742-a_erpnext_com-database.sql.gz

gzip: 20180408_162742-a_erpnext_com-database.sql.gz: not in gzip format

How do I deal with this?

The .gz file wasn’t actually an archive at all. It was a normal plaintext SQL with .gz appended:

$  head -10 20180408_162742-bavaria_erpnext_com-database.sql.gz
-- MySQL dump 10.16  Distrib 10.2.12-MariaDB, for Linux (x86_64)

-- Server version	10.2.12-MariaDB-log

/*!40101 SET @OLD_CHARACTER_SET_RESULTS=@@CHARACTER_SET_RESULTS */;
/*!40101 SET @OLD_COLLATION_CONNECTION=@@COLLATION_CONNECTION */;
/*!40101 SET NAMES utf8 */;

The issue has been fixed. The next backup will work correctly.
