Changing Naming Rule of Core Doctype

What is the ideal way to change naming rule of a core doctype. I want to change naming rule of a core doctype from naming series to auto increment.

Not a fan of doing customize form in every system since iam working on local environment and i want to reflect the changes in dev environment and prod environment.

can we change the rule there ? when i checked it seems like we can configure multiple naming series there. i want to change the rule. to auto increment or random or expression etc.
