Columns permission for the user

We have created a table in appraisal form, the employee should enter the rating in appraisal table in employee column only , but the should not access or change the values in manager column but he can see the manager ratings .
OR
Employee should not alter manager rating . For employee the manager rating column should be in read only .

How can we achieve this ?
