Can
ERPNext be utilized as company intranet? We wants to setup some pages which is
available to company employee only. To start with, we would like to include:
- policies / procedures ( expenses, anti bribery etc)
We are very keen to seethe response to this question as it will be very useful feature if implemented.

Just a general thought, but if the Intranet you are considering will not have any links to the actual ERP functionality / data bin (Customers, products, or whatever), I would frankly recommend you consider using another application to cover your needs, No offense meant to the ERPNEXT devs in the least.
What I mean is that from what you have mentioned, you are looking for a generic CMS. And there are plenty of those our there that are easy to install and use. I have set up several Intranets using WordPress for example, which gives just about everything you could possibly imagine in terms of content publishing, but obviously lacks the transactional power of an ERP.
There are several very good CMS out there and it seems crazy to dedicate finite programming resources to duplicate their functionality (re-inventing the wheel), when those same resources could be used to improve on the core features that make ERP-NEXT a unique package.
I’m new to this forum, so I don’t know if I’m stepping anybody’s feet (if this is so I sincerely apologize), but my experience on large projects (as is the case or an ERP) is that one needs to maintain a focus on core competences to make a difference to ones work.
As I say, just my thoughts.

John

We have been guilty at times of digressing too much for the core product. These days we think of it more as a "platform" rather than a "product".
I think we must maintain a healthy balance between making our existing features more usable and in new ones. What we notice that the balance shifts in favour of the more "vocal" / "expressive" customers and its creates a lot of conflict internally for us. This is not necessarily bad and it helps us to understand the user perspective and we get a lot of *great* ideas from it.
But you have put it very well - its a large and complex product and we have finite resources. We need the core features to be extremely usable and robust, which is something we are still trying to achieve.
