Creating a "Tool" for an app

Hello, I'm new to frappe.io and Erpnext, and am looking to add a "tool" like in the HR app for "Process Payroll" and "Upload Attendance." I haven't found any documentation about this, and I was hoping to get some pointers as to how to start. In particular,

1) Parameters available for the JSON configuration
2) Documentation about the JS component, the structure of objects and functions avilalbe
3) How to add the tool to the left bar (configuration file somewhere?)

Thanks!

Brendan,

Great, right now we are a bit short on documentation (coming soon). Here are some starting points:

See the example apps. If you get stuck, do post your queries here.
