'Customer Issue' entry - days to resolve metric

Happy New Year all-

For quality management we need to demonstrate how long it takes for an issue to be resolved.  What would be ideal would be a ‘days to resolve’ count.  How would I a custom field with links (specified in options) to each variable?
complaint_date - resolution_date = X days?

Will add that feature next week - seems like a nice thing to have (will also add to Task and Support Ticket)
