I ran into a problem while trying to add a new item and a new employee.
When adding a new item, i tried to save and a “DId not save” message pops up. The when trying to add a new employee i get a message saying “already exists”.
The console shows “XXXXXX already exists” (Where XXXXX looks like an employee code) how can i rectify this problem?
Thanks Joseph

Yes that much i understand and is logical to not enter an employee with the same name. But I am trying to enter with a different name a unique name so to speak.

Joseph,
The message is quite clear - you can’t create 2 employees with the same name.

In your account, Employee Id is generating based on "Employee Number". If you want that by naming series, please change in "Setup --> Global Defaults".

Here is a screen shot of the same. I changed the default from settings of how employees should be created to “Employee” and that worked fine except i have to keep adding the number and this will get confusing.
Using the the naming series generates the error message, is the a way to work around this? or is there a way to auto-increment the employee number?
Thanks.
