Discount Book

Feature Suggestion: a “Discount Book” that will complement the Pricing table.  The Discount Book defines the % discount from a specific price list (e.g. the MSR price list) and relates it to a specific customer or group of customers.

The % discount can be specified by item code or by item brand.

This would help reduce the complexity of managing several hundred SKUs against a few hundred customers.

Anyone know what the maximum number of records can be in the pricing table?  While there is no “discount book” yet that I described below, I am considering attempting to manage the several hundred SKU x several price books table x several customers.  It will be unweidly but at the moment I may have no choice.

Before I jump into it, I wanted to know if there was a max for this table.

Thanks.

Discount by item group and by item group + brand. Will be easier to manage than configuring each item code within the same item group individually.

Gupeshwar,

Great - it will be a good addition to the product :) Comments below:

Hi All,
We are in process to build this feature and propose to build as follows,
  1. Price list master will manage the price list which maintains the territory and currency.
  2. Item master manages the price of the item per price list.
  3. Discount book will be a separate module which manages the linking between the following masters,
"Discount Rule" is a better name than "Discount Book". Also it should not be a separate module but a DocType in Selling module.
    1. Price list to be considered. It make be kept open to be applied to all of the price lists.
    2. Item - This can be chosen based on individual item/s or brand (all the items belongs to the specified brand). Finally list of item or items.
Like Laurence said, Item Groups should also be added.
    1. Customer - This can be chosen as individual customer/s or customer group (all customers belongs to group). Finally a list of customer or customers.
    2. Discount % or discount price.
    1. Duration of the offer in date range. (Applies between 00 Hrs to 23:59:59 Hrs of the mentioned date).
    1. Hours : Define the range of hours to execute the offer between the hours only. (Happy Hours)
    2. Priority : between 0 or greater than 0. This will be used to override the conflicting offer and 0 considered prime.
    3. Enable/Disable a rule.
  1. Introductory/welcome offer to customers.
  2. Discount based on the invoice amount.
  3. Discount based on the number of items in the invoice.
  4. Rule based priority to override the rules considered at a time for a transaction.
This will also involve changes in the selling_controller.py which is at the heart of the system. If you keep pushing regularly - it will help us to verify if you are not duplicating some effort.

Please, suggest us if anything more.

Gupteshwar Joshi
