Email communication not tagged automatically to customer


I have setup and incoming mail and have selected Append to “Communication”.
It is working fine and the communication is automatically pulled and appended in the Communication.
However I thought the email will automatically append to communication to my customer or contact which already exists in my system based on the email address. But it is not happening.

I can append the communication manually to some doctype but aren’t the incoming mails expected to automatically associate themselves to the customer and contact on the basis of email address??


The best practice is to pull new sales emails as “Opportunties”

I agree. But I was looking for a way to deal with communication with existing buyers.
