Erp next for warehousing

Hey all,

I am currently managing my inventory in Erp next but at a very basic level. Now I am shifting to a bigger warehouse where I would be requiring some advance level management such as

  1. QR code labelling on every box
  2. Tracking of box location via QR code
  3. Stock keeping including addition and deductions on scanning the QR code
  4. Proper GRN for inward of goods
  5. Proper outward of material via scanning of the same QR code pasted during inward
    Etc etc

Is it possible via Erp next and if yes, can you suggest some threads or solutions?

Thanks a ton in advance!!

  1. Enable Serial and Batch no for the Item master. Configure the series for serial and batch name as per your convenience. So it will create unique id’s for each box.
  2. Based on the serial no you can track the box in warehouse by stock ledger or stock balance reports.
  3. Let’s consider you are selling one box with serial no. Inside the Sales Order you can add the serial no in “Scan Barcode” field. It will fetch Item Code and availability based on warehouse mentioned in “Set Source Warehouse” Field
    4 & 5 same for above steps

erpnext is by far a very good warehouse management solution.

  1. Barcode is an inbuilt feature. Use Barcode instead of QR code.
  2. Create a warehouse tree to achieve Plant->Warehouse - > Storage Location → Bin
  3. Use Serial numbers and Batches in Item
  4. Maintain Item default for Purchasing.
  5. Maintain Auto re-order levels

You are good to do all sort of activities required for WM.

Define materials to be followed in stock and creation of batches and if they have quality inspection, assign inspection template
Receive materials via stock entry of thype receipt or purchase receipt to a pre-release warehouse
You will be prompted to execute quality inspection to commit the receipt
The material lines on your receipt document will receive individual batch numbers
Split these individual batches via batch or item’s inventory tab
The initial batch quantity will be reduced and new batch created with split quantity. This new batch’s parent is the batch assigned during receipt
Now you can move the materials with split batches which are your stock carrying units
