Summarizing documents in a business context needs expertise and knowledge of the context.
If these conditions are insufficiently met, relying on a bad summary can lead to bad business decisions and even litigation.

What are the guaranties that:

  • the summaries are “good” or even “good enough”?
  • that data will not be leaked to external entities?
  • that the summaries will not be used for manipulation by external entities?

Anyone promoting AI tools should answer such questions before promoting any tool making use of it. Otherwise, how will due diligence be possible?

I think Anyone asking questions like your questions should implement their own local AI model to avoid the headache , questioning the integrity or the results of a well known cloud based AI like openai is a bit naive in our evolving current century

Last time I checked (messages of this kind in fact regularly arrive by themselves via mass media and also more specialized security sources), current AI has unsolved security problems and still often is sub-par. My own experience confirms some of this.

Big entities are no guarantee for everything, because they all have their own interests and even fight for these with each other. That may not be indicative of taking the user’s interest into account: There are many rent-seekers out there, and the usual method is to enslave people, also known as “vendor lock-in”.
If you want to free people, you need to always strife for them to be able to care for themselves and their matters of life. This doesn’t exclude collaboration, but on specific terms which must preclude vendor lock-in. This is still rare in this world, but obviously the future if you want happy people.

If you don’t own the server doing it’s more of the same probablity stuff many call “AI”, I don’t consider myself naive in taking these things into account, quite the contrary.
So you are right in advising to implement one’s own local AI model as far as the conditions of such projects (as described above) are not met or intransparent.

You can also consider yourself a better expert if you actually do work for the interests and freedom of your clients.

I agree with you actually on the points you made, but if you come to the reality, its very hard to actually build a huge stuff from scratch while there are already built tools to help us in so many areas.
However, “trust” is a big and very hard word, in reality, I think we just need to trust since anything goes wrong will cause a huge legal issues for the big enterprises
