ERPNext CRM: Why are leads disabled after Opportunities are created?

It seems that in V14, Leads are disabled after an Opportunity is created. What exactly is the reasoning behind this? Why should the Lead record be disabled?

Suppose you have created additional fields for the Leads DocType. Once the Opportunity is created, those fields can no longer be updated, and it seems that the data isn’t synced to any other DocType that can be edited…

Is it just me, or this is… kind of stupid?

I have the same issue v14.15.0
