ERPNext for Wholesale Destribution

Hello,

I am looking at ERPNext for our new ERP system. This will replace our current JD Edwards and HighJump EDI. These system are over a decade old and no longer have support or maintenance.

Here are the features our small business requires:

  1. RFID Handheld Barcode Scanning - We would like to setup 2 wireless access points in our warehouse. These will be used by the warehouse employees to quickly pick and ship products.
  2. Multiple Bin Locations - We have a lot of power equipment, mostly chainsaws that need to be separated in multiple bins. They are currently placed somewhere around the bin that is full.
  3. Multiple Locations & Warehouses - We only have 1 warehouse but we want to make sure we have the option to expand in the future.
  4. Warehouse Inventory Management - We would like to organize our inventory by row and shelf if possible.
  5. Basic Accounting/Sales/Payroll - Create invoices, purchase orders, sales orders, etc.
  6. eCommerce - Our website is hosted by GoDaddy.com and is running on Magento Go platform, we need to know if we can integrate this to ERPNext.
  7. Cloud - We occasionally have our business and marketing department go and setup roadshows around the US, we would like them to be able to access inventory whenever they need to.
These are our only requirements that we need to be a successful business. JD Edwards and HighJump are mainly aimed at bigger enterprises. Our company has between 50-100 employees.

If you require any further information, please let me know.

Hello,

I am looking at ERPNext for our new ERP system. This will replace our current JD Edwards and HighJump EDI. These system are over a decade old and no longer have support or maintenance.

You are at the right place - ERPNext is a modern and light weight ERP system and there are easily more than 100 installations live - worldwide.

Here are the features our small business requires:

  1. RFID Handheld Barcode Scanning - We would like to setup 2 wireless access points in our warehouse. These will be used by the warehouse employees to quickly pick and ship products.
Barcode / Item Code / Serial No can be added in ERPNext using the keyboard interface - I think this should not be a big issue.
  1. Multiple Bin Locations - We have a lot of power equipment, mostly chainsaws that need to be separated in multiple bins. They are currently placed somewhere around the bin that is full.
You can create as many "Warehouses" in ERPNext as you want. You can treat them as a Bin.
  1. Multiple Locations & Warehouses - We only have 1 warehouse but we want to make sure we have the option to expand in the future.
Thats easily possible
  1. Warehouse Inventory Management - We would like to organize our inventory by row and shelf if possible.
Currently there is no special feature for this, but you can add Custom Fields to your Warehouses to tag more properties like row # and shelf #
  1. Basic Accounting/Sales/Payroll - Create invoices, purchase orders, sales orders, etc.
All of theses are present.
  1. eCommerce - Our website is hosted by GoDaddy.com and is running on Magento Go platform, we need to know if we can integrate this to ERPNext.
You might have to engage a partner / freelancer to push your sales data into ERPNext. This can be done using a simple web service API
  1. Cloud - We occasionally have our business and marketing department go and setup roadshows around the US, we would like them to be able to access inventory whenever they need to.
ERPNext is a web (browser) based system. You can choose to host yourself or via a partner. We at Web Notes provide affordable hosting for ERPNext. You can see our prices here and sign up for a 30 day trial too:

These are our only requirements that we need to be a successful business. JD Edwards and HighJump are mainly aimed at bigger enterprises. Our company has between 50-100 employees.

This is the ideal user size for ERPNext!

If you require any further information, please let me know.

Are you the project champion? Here is a quick implementation steps:

Now, do you mean just regular computer keyboard? Because I'm talking about mobile terminals that connect to the wireless. Devices like Intermec 2435s or newer or Wasp. These things can update in real time.

We would like to use the latest Intermec CK3X: http://solutions.intermec.com/content/NA-US-CK3X

Would this work?

Thanks again.

Aaron,

You will have to find a partner to push the data via a webservice API - If you post a specific requirement, I could forward it to some of our partners.

Hi Aaron,

It seems that the device already has an HTML5 browser. It is similar to a mobile device along with a barcode reader.

How do you intend to use this device? Depending on that we or the technical team of intermec can guide you.

You can also try to open erpnext demo or your trial account on the device and see if it works on it. May be an intermac reseller can give you a demo.

Thanks,
Anand.
