Features of ERPNext

Hi All,

Please let me know if there is place where I can get a list of all the functionalities available in ErpNEXT.
Better if any comparison to other erp system.

I am looking for a small ERP (better open source) for one my friend’s small mfg company (mostly working as contract mfg for couple of big MFG companies). As his company is growing and the parent companies are looking for better supply chain integration he is planning to move out of current excel based tracking.

I have googled open ERP and come to this page….

Below are major features that we are looking for.

1.       Good chart of account system – to track cost department wise and have the plan to track the future location – Something similar to oracle’s COA where you can represent different segemnts for diff business purposes.

2.       A way handle 8-10 levels of BOM structure
better to have a single view / indented bom structure facility

3.       Tracking & planning of WO orders and auto back flush system (similar to oracle assembly pull/operational pull with push)

4.       A decent planning system (better if constrained base)
MRP or Min Max or Kanabn
But should be able to auto generate supplies – such as Work Order & Purchase Order

5.       Inventory tracking -
 Cycle count / Physical inventory

6.       Basis sales & purchasing features

7.       Payable & receivable invoicing & payment system

8.       Some sort of asset maintenance to help in regularize the maintenance activity

Please don’t send me any sales person contact. I have been working in ERPs for more than 15+ years (3 years in SAP , 9+ years in oracle 11i/R12 & Fusion) and have enough expertise to go through a product & documentation to find out its usefulness.

Why are on google forum (I had not used any google account for long and had to create a new account just to post this…)

 Thanks
Ani

We have many manufacturing business using ERPNext to manage their operations.

As his company is growing and the parent companies are looking for better supply chain integration he is planning to move out of current excel based tracking.

I have googled open ERP and come to this page. Great :)

….

Below are major features that we are looking for.

1. Good chart of account system – to track cost department wise and have the plan to track the future location – Something similar to oracle’s COA where you can represent different segments for diff business purposes.

ERPNext has perpetual inventory valuation system which does accounting based on stock and manufacturing entries.

https://erpnext.com/user-guide/stock/accounting-of-inventory-stock/perpetual-inventory

You can create separate accounting ledger or cost center for each department. While making entries, you will be able to expense account which will be booked.

2. A way handle 8-10 levels of BOM structure
better to have a single view / indented bom structure facility.

You can manage multiple level BOM in ERPNext. Single view for all the indented BOM is not available though.

3. Tracking & planning of WO orders and auto back flush system (similar to oracle assembly pull/operational pull with push).

We call it Production Order in ERPNext. You can issue raw-materials against Production Order, and make Finish Goods entry. When make finish goods entry, finished goods are added in warehouse, and raw-materials are consumed.

https://erpnext.com/user-guide/manufacturing/production-order

4. A decent planning system (better if constrained base)
MRP or Min Max or Kanabn
But should be able to auto generate supplies – such as Work Order & Purchase Order

You can use Production Planning Tool for raw-material. This tools will give you raw-material qty required for production, with current stock available in the warehouse. You can create Material Request for item falling short of qty on one click in Production Planning Tool. Material Request can be converted into Purchase Order by Purchase Manager.

https://erpnext.com/user-guide/manufacturing/production-planning-tool

5. Inventory tracking -
Cycle count / Physical inventory

Please check:
Stock >> Reports >> Stock Projected Qty / Stock Balance report

6. Basis sales & purchasing features:

7. Payable & receivable invoicing & payment system

Check:

Accounts >> Main Reports >> Account Receivable/Payable report

8. Some sort of asset maintenance to help in regularize the maintenance activity

You can use Support module for scheduling maintenance for fixed asset items.

https://erpnext.com/user-guide/support/maintenance-schedule

Please don’t send me any sales person contact. I have been working in ERPs for more than 15+ years (3 years in SAP , 9+ years in oracle 11i/R12 & Fusion) and have enough expertise to go through a product & documentation to find out its usefulness.
