Field missing in doctype edit but shows while adding data to the lists

Hi All,
I tried to make some customisation in the lead module . i tried to change the types of source and created new field for Reference . while
editing i deleted the reference field from the field list but if i try to add new lead to list there is still option for selecting the
reference . can anyone approached simlar issues or anyone could tell me how to handle the situation here.

First, you can’t change the field type for a default field. We suggest you create a new custom field in the Lead doctype. Please don’t add the field directly in the doctype. You can use the Customize Form or Custom Field doctype for this.
