Fixed: letterheads in email

1

Hi everyone,

We have fixed the letterhead issue in email attachments (app.html was
appearing in the image’s url).

Please pull the latest changes and try sending an email.
You can use lib/wnf.py --pull origin master
-or-
if update_erpnext.py exists, just run python update_erpnext.py

deserves recognition. Plus you and the crew are always helping me and
others here really it it the least i can do. Also i have a partner that is
interested in EPRNext I will be discussing it with him this week I know its
only one, but that is how things get started. If i can convince him how
great ERPNext is and that he should dump quick books and his existing pos it
will become a group collaboration between him, myself and will require some
paid development on your end. I can praise the product to keep you going,
and might be able to drum up some money for it too. I just don’t have any
myself right now haha.

Regarding your issues:

  1. Can you right click on your broken images and select “Open Image on a
    new page” and let us know the URL and the error messages?

Yes i noticed the url was also poking around with firebug while i waited
for help

  1. Default Warehouse: You are right - it should automatically update. We
    will fix this in our upcoming release. No you don’t have to create any more
    warehouses (if you are not using them)

all my book keeping invoicing and soon webstore when that part of ERPNext is
functional, which is soon i hope. I also Plan to do my taxes for last year
and am sure i will have questions about that too, but anyways enough of my
ramblings here goes with some of my initial questions.

First i have added an image of the type png to my letter head and it
works perfectly when i print a document, but if i email a document i get a
torn image symbol in its place. The same behaviour is encountered when i
add an image to an item via the html description field please can you help
me get to the bottom of this as i have some quotations i would like to have
sent out last Friday :slight_smile: and would love to show off the image feature of my
new ERP system!

I have setup a Warehouse as Default Warehouse, but it does not auto
populate when creating items It also gives a message about how i should
create a warehouse what am i missing here. Maybe i need to create another
warehouse but i do not want a bunch right now i only have one, and it seems
like i might be hard to remove later.

"As we maintain stock of this item, its better to maintain default
warehouse. To add default warehouse please go to ‘Inventory’ section. It
will be fetched automatically while making Sales Order, Delivery Note, etc…
"

I have setup a tax called GST and each time i create an item i make sure
to add the GST as the tax but when i create a Quotation or Sales Order etc
it does not auto populate and i have to enter GST on each item.

Lastly the + signs are a great feature but should default to open in a
new tab

PS let me know if it is better to create individual posts for each issue
as i am sure there are many more to come.

I did the update using the first method you suggested as i could not find a file called update_erpnext.py. However I am still haveing the same issue with app.html in my letter head, and now the printed lettter head is just missing not link at all.


PS this app.html is in my Item html descriptions too.

Hi,

Letterhead issue should get solved if you go to Tools > Clear Cache and Refresh.

For item description, you will have to set the description html again
-or-
remove the app.html part from the urls

I have cleared the cache about a million times :slight_smile: and have even tried
creating a new letter head but it still does not show on the emails! ps
you know there is no way to delete letter heads from the GUI right?



As for item descriptions i have delete then added image to refresh the
htlm description, as well as create a competly new item with a new image
still always get broken links on email.



I am fine editing urls but not sure where to do this

Hi Ryan,

You need to give us some more details.
Please put in some screenshots, which shows your browser’s address bar
along with the content of your letter head.
Do the same for the item descriptions.

Are you able to see the attachments when you click on the file on the
right-side bar?

Also, can you paste the link of the letterhead image, as you receive
in the email?

We have released the updates to our customers and they aren’t facing
any such issues. So, there must be some configuration issue. Please
provide more details so that it could be debugged.

Haha i was putting together a post for this thread with screen captures and everything started working. Not sure why must have been a cache issue somewhere even though i did try clearing the cache several times before posting here. Anyways quite happy now images are working on both email and print awesome thank for all the help.


As related issue how come when i click email it does not auto populate the email field with the email i have provided in the customer details.

Another also i am getting a popup when i submit a sales order guessing it is related to email notification as i have then all turned on

Invalid/Missing Email Address. undefined not sent.

I do have email set in several place like company and email setup page so not sure why this is appearing is there somewhere else i need to set it?

Your contact mentioned in that form doesnt have an email address mentioned. So the system cant send email if the TO address is missing.

Hi Ryan,

Your form must be having a contact field.

When you select a customer, it fetches the primary contact specified for that customer.

Either the contact field data is missing or no email has been specified for the contact.

Hence the system doesnt have an email address to send email to.

A good place to start debugging any issue is by starting your browser’s console. All developer friednly error messages are displayed in that cconsole.

have mad computer, technical, and troubleshooting skills just

my
skills pertain to making money. Basically i’m addicted to my
computers
rarely leaving the house in order to sell my skills as there are
always
about 100 problems to solve somewhere in my cyberscape.

Being completely overwhelmed most of the time, I plan to us
ERPNext
to
do
all my book keeping invoicing and soon webstore when that part
of
ERPNext is
functional, which is soon i hope. I also Plan to do my taxes
for
last
year
and am sure i will have questions about that too, but anyways
enough
of my
ramblings here goes with some of my initial questions.

First i have added an image of the type png to my letter head
and
it
works perfectly when i print a document, but if i email a
document
i
get a
torn image symbol in its place. The same behaviour is
encountered
when i
add an image to an item via the html description field please
can
you
help
me get to the bottom of this as i have some quotations i would
like
to
have
sent out last Friday :slight_smile: and would love to show off the image
feature
of my
new ERP system!

I have setup a Warehouse as Default Warehouse, but it does not
auto
populate when creating items It also gives a message about
how i
should
create a warehouse what am i missing here. Maybe i need to
create
another
warehouse but i do not want a bunch right now i only have one,
and
it
seems
like i might be hard to remove later.

"As we maintain stock of this item, its better to maintain
default
warehouse. To add default warehouse please go to ‘Inventory’
section.
It
will be fetched automatically while making Sales Order, Delivery
