Frappe Cloud Templating

I used ERPNext+Marley to customize and self-host a patient management solution for one client. So the word got out, and now I have a third request for the same setup, and I think it’s time to move them to Frappe Cloud. Before I used the first website as a template, basically, and bench backed up and cloned it via ssh. My question is, would I be able to do something similar in Frappe Cloud? Those are small practices with little traffic, so I’m sure shared $10 should do it. And I would hate to stylize it from the ground up every time, as it takes a lot of time. Any recommendations or workarounds are highly appreciated before I commit to this path.

According to this post, you can install custom apps with. $25/month plan.

This will let you create a custom app with your custom code. It will also let you export customizations into your custom app(s). Use GitHub to store your custom apps for easy development and deployment.

I think you are right. I absolutely overlooked that part. I just glanced at the shared hosting card here, ERPNext Pricing on Frappe Cloud, and it mentions all the things I need, but I didn’t know that $5-10 plans basically include nothing. And I just did a rough resource usage calculation, and considering that I sell my option to small practices with 4-6 therapists, even a $10 plan is overkill. And considering that I charge each $59 per month, of which I also pay taxes and Stripe fees, there’s no way I’m paying $25 for hosting that I’m not even using to the full extent. Currently, they are hosted on OVHCloud’s VPS, which is far from the cheapest option around, at a fraction of that price. I’m sure not getting the convenience of FC, but at my resource use and that price, it’s financially unfeasible. I guess no Frappe Cloud for this guy.

You will undoubtedly have higher profit margins if you self host. I don’t think multiple clients would enjoy sharing the infrastructure provided by a $5-10/month Frappe Cloud instance.

Do you plan on providing each client with their own $5/month plan?

.2GB database is included at $5/month. How big is a DB without any records after installing ERPNext + Healthcare?

You should consider the customer pay Frappe Cloud directly while you charge for maintenance and support.

The app approach that @volkswagner describes is definitely the best approach, but to answer your most specific question: yes, you can import and export backups on frappe cloud.

I thought a $10 plan per client, as a 0.5GB database, should cover the needs for the records. But it doesn’t matter. I’ll self-host three clients for now, and if anyone else ever reaches out, I propose FP cost plus my management, but that becomes not the best option for the clients now, as it puts the product in the same price range as well-established big platforms offering the same services. It was an option for a little side hustle that just presented itself, but I’m not sure I will put any extra effort into it.

Thank you! That’s good to know. For slightly bigger clients, like a clinic, perhaps FP is a viable option. For small clients, there are definitely better options out there. But I do appreciate your input.
