I have been working on integrating the ERPNext Quality Management module with the rest of ERPNext’s modules. Currently, it functions as a separate application and does not share data with other modules. For example, when I want to conduct a quality review based on the specified quality goals, which are in turn based on the defined quality procedures, there is no automated way to trigger it when a new item is added to or taken out of inventory. Is there a way to establish a connection so that a corresponding quality review can be initiated using the defined Quality Goals? sorry for my English
I have been implementing / using the Quality “App” for over a year now. Here is my take:
Lack of Integration: Totally, Quality module does feel like an App more than a module. Due to the way ERPNext/Frappe is designed I can kind of understand why, but there are some simple workarounds for this. For example if we can sync up a Quality Goal to a Card or Dashboard element we can assign max and min values, so that whenever the values go beyond that it triggers and audit.
Quality Feedback: For me this module is not usable, although I would really love to use it. Mainly because in our company not all emplyee’s are users of the system. We have factory floor staff that do not get emails or access to computers. The Quality Feedback for employee’s only takes into account Users of ERPNext. So basically only office staff.
Document Library: Finally I have noticed Frappe has a Wiki app that can be installed along side ERPNext. This is a fantastic tool for internal SOP’s etc but unfortunately WIKI is open to the public and no way to restrict user access. Personally I wouldn’t want my internal Procedures broadcasted all over the internet. If we can take the same working and integrate wiki to Quality App it will be a great way to have Procedures, Maps, and all other documentation needed as well as a way to version control.
Positive: And finally, apart from all these potential improvements I still feel that the Quality “App” is a great tool for audits. It may not be automatic, or have documentation integrated, but it does allow a great way to Audit, Document Non Conformance and Quality Actions. Which is what I use for my internal audits.
Hi
May I add my voice to this.
a Few interesting thoughts that has already been mentioned.
I myself, have already used the quality app extensively for SOPs. There are some
definite improvements that can be made and indeed I have already started doing
some of these. e.g. a Quality doc can be one of many “type” … i.e. Procedure, Policy … etc
Also, on my Quality meeting doc I have expanded the list of docs available to the
user under “minutes”.
Another thing that is missing is an “Incident” doctype. I have created an
extensive “Incident” doctype. I am currently reviewing all the changes that I have
implemented and perhaps at some stage I can open this up for comments ?
Some good points. I’m not to sure of Quality Docs for everything, but may be a valid solution. It just seems to big to handle, but if everything is coded, it could be easy to fetch and use if all in one place.
I have also implemented an Incident Doctype but for production (as I manufacture). So all product / service related issues get put into that Doctype.
