Generic questions about ERPNext

Hi there!

I’m evaluating ERPNext at the moment, but I could not find some information in the documentation (that I still need to read fully, but have already skimmed through, though).

  • Is it fully “translatable”? I noticed missed Portuguese translations in many places…
  • Can drop-down lists be sorted by value? I’ve seen drop-down lists being sorted by “value” instead of “text”. If the language is English the result is the same, otherwise the list becomes unsorted due to translation (e.g.“Activity Type, Address, Appraisal Template, Asset, …” become “Tipo de Atividade, Endereço, Modelo de Avaliação, Ativo, …”).
  • Is there a history system (so we can know when and who created/modified/deleted what in the database)?
  • Is there a way to require the user to enter his/her password in specific situations (so one user can’t use the credentials of another who forgot to logout)?

Yes, ERPNext is fully translatable, you can contribute with translations in translate.erpnext.com

Yes sorting by user specific language, it’s a issue, that occurs in many places, I think opening a issue, can get it resolved!

Yes, history has improved few days ago: Versioning and Audit Trail

You can define how many time a user keep looged in the system, for example, 2 hours, 3 hours, after this time of inactivity, frappe will block the user session!

By default it’s 8 hours!

I’ve seen the ERPNext Translator already, but I had the impression it translates only strings present in the code, so text in HTML, JS and other files seem to need manual translation.

I understand the timeout option, but let me put it in another way: we might have just one computer to be shared among several employees. Anyone should be able to read data from the system, but when an input is made, we need to be sure who did it. A normal cycle of logout / login would be too slow, so I was thinking about the system automatically asking the password any time data was entered. Do you know if this is possible out-of-the-box?

@FunKing it translate string in many places, but for some cases the translation system need to be improved!

No, it’s not possible in the box, a large customization will be required!
