I am working on a general ledger for a customer that originally had a credit balance of 204.118 on November 18, 2023. On December 6, 2023, I received a payment from the customer of 204, making their credit balance 0.118.
I then did a write-off journal entry for the 0.118 balance. The debit and credit sides of the entry balanced at 0.118. However, after posting the entry, I am now seeing the ledger has a balance of -0.001.
The debit and credit matched so I expected the balance to go to 0. Any ideas on what could be going on or how to correct this? I want to understand where that minor discrepancy is coming from in my ledger after posting the write-off. Any guidance is appreciated!
