Handling Fluctuating Salaries for Casual Staff in Frappe HR

Hello everyone,

I’m seeking some assistance regarding a specific use case for Frappe HR Payroll.

We’re a company that employs a large number of casual workers, over 1000, who do not have a constant monthly salary. Their pay fluctuates each month.

I’ve noticed that in the Frappe Payroll system, the “Base Pay” or “Gross Pay” is defined in the “Salary Assignment.” This means we currently have to create a new salary assignment for each employee every month, which is quite time-consuming with our high volume of staff.

I also noticed that there’s a “CTC (Cost to the Company)” field under the “Salary” tab in the Employee doctype. This field doesn’t seem to be linked to the “Base Salary” field in the Salary Assignment.

I’m wondering if there’s a more efficient way to manage this. Ideally, it would be great if we could define the base salary for an employee in the “CTC” field within the Employee doctype, and have this value automatically populate the “Base Salary” field when we create a new Salary Assignment. This would save us from having to generate a new salary structure for each employee every month. We would only need to update the CTC field, and the changes would be reflected automatically.

Does anyone know of a better way to handle this situation within the current Frappe HR app? Alternatively, is this something that could be considered for a future amendment or a new feature?

Any guidance or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Hi there,

You might have luck using the Additional Salary doctype. The CTC field should reflect this value plus any other income your employees are paid.
