Help clarify address type

I don’t get the intent of the mandatory address type field. How are “permanent”, “current”, “billing”, “shipping”, “personal” even remotely in the same category? In particular since there are “primary billing”/“primary shipping” checkboxes.
When to take “current”/“permanent”? They aren’t even opposites. Is current “meant” to be “temporary”?

How to proceed if I have a company address which is both, billing and shipping, and a company address, which is shipping and one which is billing? Thus, 3 addresses. Do I need 4 entries then?
And how do I mark a personal shipping address which is also the primary billing address?
Type: Shipping; is preferred billing? Yes; feels awkward.

Hopefully that’s cleverly designed and I just fail to find the appropriate point of view. If not, what does it take to rework it into some proper approach?
