Hi! I’ve been struggling to grasp how to name documents using a naming series. I’ve spent several hours trying to figure it out and haven’t made much progress.
In this case, I am trying to use a naming series for items to generate item codes with format CP-.#####
Here’s my current setup:

Document naming settings for Item

On the Item customize form settings
- naming_series field on Item form
Is my understanding correct that this naming series should write on save of the form? As in, the field Item Code is empty, I hit save and then it writes in an item code? Because that isn’t happening - it just says I need to fill in Item Code to save. Is the naming for items automatically linked to the item code field? Another thing I just noticed is that if I create a new item and manually type text in for Item Code it automatically writes that to Item Name- is that normal behavior?
Please help me figure out what I’m not understanding here.
