How can I link students with student groups

Hello!
I am creating groups of students based on the courses they have taken each of them, the problem here is that when I create another group it does not let me get the name of the student previously already registered in my list, it tells me that I have to create it again, but in that case my student doubles in my database.
Can I link to my student database with my student groups?
If I can, what should I do?

set your student groups to be based on activity and then you can add them from the student list and not duplicate student records.
