How do we customise the Items table to allow users to change the UOM?

For the Purchase and Sales Invoices, we need to allow the users to change the UOM of the item inline. Meaning, without the need to click/ expand the item by clicking on the arrow in the last column of the items table.

Is this doable?

Have you tried customizing the Purchase Invoice Item form and checking In List View for UOM field?
