How does updates affect Custom DocType

Wanted to understand if I create a New Doctype using Developer>DocType>New and

1 - Donot write a single piece of Code to edit the doctype
2 - I will link it to other docs using link option, when creating docs.

and I update ERPNext in the future, Will the custom created doctype stay or will it get deleted?

Doubt it gets deleted! Unless the reference DocType gets removed itself (which usually is never the case on stable branches).

New to ERPNext, Sorry, what would you mean when you say “reference DocType”?

I am creating a new Module, and associating it with the DocType I am creating.

This is will be done using the GUI on the browser.
