How to add custom field db indexes?

Hello team,

I have created a custom field for data, and I would like to use it for searching. Therefore, I intend to create indexes for this custom field in order to enhance database performance. How can I accomplish this?
I attempted to enable Global Search for this field and rebuild the global search, but it did not yield the desired results.
