How to control the length of input field

Hi

When I build one of my own form. I use a field called subject with data field type.
I want the length longer than default like this.

but I don’t know how to. change field property length or width won’t work.
I saw one of system page shows longer field which is exactly what I want.

The only explanation I can come up with is that you have a column break after Subject field. Delete it and your field should cover the full width.
