Any update on this subject, the case as stated by @tgraupne is exactly the problem we are facing.
I produce in lots, lots are being packed in several boxxes, boxxes are serialized, boxxes are packed on pallets, pallets are serialized.
Does somebody has a suitable solutions, maybe a suitable work around?
