How to make a Sales Return without using the original delivery note

I have a client who wants to make a sales return without having to trace the original delivery note.
We have tried creating a fresh delivery note and check the “is return” check box but the check box is read only.

We tried disabling the read only feature by customizing the delivery note doc type but the field cannot be made editable.

I think. it’s not possible.

I would like to suggest you, why you did not use the sales invoice return.
You can also manage the return process from sales invoices.

Please try it and check it.

if comfortable then use it.
